Captain Starlight

Captain Starlight is a superhero of fun helping sick kids cope with the uncertainty and worry of hospital and treatment. 

Having fun with Captain Starlight helps sick kids feel happier, more confident and puts them in a better place to deal with the pain and stress of hospital and treatment. It helps reduce boredom, stress and anxiety and improves overall health and wellbeing.

In hospital - Starlight Express Rooms

Hospital can be a pretty scary place if you're a kid. We help make hospital fun for kids, teens and families. 

Starlight Express Rooms are filled with fun and laughter and feel a world away from the reality of hospital. It's where Captain Starlight helps kids forget about everything they're going through and just be kids.

Livewire

Livewire is Starlight's dedicated program for teenagers living with a serious illness, disability or chronic health condition. Through Livewire, young people connect with others, online and in-hospital, who understand what they are going through helping them cope with the stress, anxiety and isolation of hospital and serious illness.

Healthier Futures Initiative

There is still a significant gap between the health status of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids have some of the highest levels of preventable diseases in the world. 

Partnering with health professionals, our Healthier Futures Initiative is helping to change that by bringing Captain Starlight to remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community health clinics to provide positive distraction for kids through song, dance, games and storytelling.

Wishgranting

A Starlight Wish helps sick kids and their families leave the pain of treatment behind and enjoy more of what matters most - fun, joy and shared happiness. It's a once-in-a lifetime gift that helps sick kids’ dreams come true!

From the moment a child is told their Starlight Wish is to be granted the excitement begins. Dreaming, planning and talking about the wish is a great distraction from treatment and surgery. It’s the light at the end of the tunnel that lifts spirits and brings families together.

Starlight Moments

Starlight Moments creates experiences of fun, joy and happiness for families with a palliative child. The program recognises the challenges faced by families in this circumstance and offers opportunities for family connection and the simple joys of childhood, in a way that will be most meaningful to each unique family.

This might be a treasure hunt at home, a picnic lunch with family and friends, an outing to the beach or a simple pizza and movie night in.
