I’m fundraising for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. And I need YOUR support.
Did you know? Every minute of every day, a child is admitted to hospital in Australia.
Xander was one of those statistics. In February 2023, Xander was admitted to Westmead Children’s Hospital after an MRI showed a lesion on his brain. We were terrified, and this was all amplified as we were in a shared room with other kids as their parents found out their child had brain cancer.
During our time the starlight foundation made things a little brighter, bringing Xander a care pack including headphones for his entertainment station to reduce the noise in the room, which was a huge help for a child with autism.
Xander loved visiting the starlight room where he could play his video games with his siblings when they came to visit. The staff were so cheerful and a welcomed distraction from the worry and concern that was consuming us.
We were extremely lucky that Xander’s small tumour was benign and we were only admitted for a week, but I often think of those poor families that call the kids hospital home, and the amazing starlight foundation that work so hard to brighten their days.
This May, I’m taking on the Super Steps challenge to raise funds that will make hospital a happier place for seriously ill children.
I’ve set myself a goal to walk or run thousands of steps every day, for an entire month. And I need your support.
When you sponsor my challenge, you’ll help create much needed happiness for sick kids and their families. The money you donate will help seriously ill children cope better with the pain and stress of treatment, and helps families feel more connected and positive about what lies ahead.
Any amount you can spare will help brighten kids’ lives when they’re going through tough times in hospital. Can I count on your support?
We love you guys! Go Rach! Kat & Troy xoxo
